8 shot journey

The first task that i had to do for my 8 shot journey was to create a story bored with 8 different shots. These shots had to be different types of camera angles and distances e.g. a long shot. Eventhough i didn't plan my 8 shot journey this way, most of my shots were close ups due to the obscene amount of people walking around and getting in the way of everything!!!

We then hired out the camera and paired up with another person which in my case this person was Neil. The camera settings had to be changed and the tape had to be striped before i began filming, this was extremely time consuming.

The area that i filmed in first was the south building bridge it was easy to film because hardly any people were there to interupt us. All of the other shots were pretty much the same untill we got to the lifts! There were so many people just walking in and out of the lift and past the camera singing and dancing. To be truely honest the college should have given us much more time to film and when most people are in there lessons as well.

Because of the lift problems i then had to forget about one of my shots inside the lift and then in the editing process get a shot of outside the lift makeing it seem like Neil was in it.

The editing was quite difficult until i got the hang of it. I thought that i edited it quite well and thne end product turned out brilliantly.

Evaluation of My Three Jingles

As our task we made three different jingles for SNC live radio station. The three jingles were for the news, for the promo and an ident. The programs I used were 'garage band' and 'adobe sound booth’, these programs were easy to use but only when we were thought the correct way to use them.

For my station ident I used garage band for the background music. For garage band you have to create your own music using the variety of sounds that the programme provides you by putting the effects together. The news jingle music wwas easier to create than the station indent music because the single sound effect that I used already sounded extremely like a news jingle only I added a bit of beat boxing at the end to make it sound a bit more youthful. The only problem with my news jingle was that it ended 'sharply' and needed to be quietened down by using the programme 'sound booth'. My news jingle lasted approximately 10 - 15 seconds.

My ident had a lot of detail in it and took quite a while to make because or all the different effects that i used on garage band, I thought that it sounded quite good though even though I can't play it on a pc. My ident lasted approximately 10 seconds.

For my promo I downloaded two songs 'get in my car' by 50 cant and 'wicked so' by dj hazzard. I downloaded these songs for free off YouTube through I tunes. I edited the music on 'sound booth' to suite the recordings that I made, it was quite simple once I got the hang of it. To make my promo last for a longer time, I made the music that I downloaded begin before I put my recordings in and finish after the recordings stopped.

When I recorded I used then voices of me and Neil. It was quite difficult to record due to the insolence of the other people in my class :) it took quite a lot of time but eventually we got there. Another problem that I had was the programme Adobe 'sound booth', it decided to be difficult with me and forget my recordings even though I saved them quite thoroughly.

In conclusion, I found that during Jingle Production, it was rather easy but still extremely frustration at the same time. I thought that my jingles were pretty damn good.

I need to get this to 500 words which is somewhat unrealistic but I’ll just add this bit here Maureen will never ever know really, seeing as my jingle went so well I don’t really need to waste added words on it do i? J
Apparently this is only 457 words, it’s quite a fail. J
Although It soon shall be 500 words which is all good in the hood (Y) I am letting Neil write this and really need to punctuate his name. :/

Five hundred words.

Pinhole Pictures and Evaluation

This is a picture of the roof which i took with my pinhole camera, the expose time was 5 minutes, which is alright but the pictures are small and sweet anyway so it doesn't much matter :). The images on this picture are quite ghost like so but you can still sort of make out that it is a roof.

This is the possitive version of the picture that i took. I like this picture because you can see the cars an the trees very clearly, but i wasn't particularly delighted by the white line that appeared in the middle of the picture, eventhough you could say it is quite artistic : )

This was the best picture that i took that day. I like the detail that my pinhole camera has taken. This is the possitive version and eventough you cant really see the picture clearly it still is quite good. This picture was taken outside for 25 seconds.

Pinhole Camera

Pinhole Camera

A camera is a devise that records images; a pin whole camera does exactly the same only it takes longer than your typical modern camera. The term camera comes from the Latin term camera obscura which means dark “chamber”.

A shutter is a devise that allows light to pass for a determined amount of time, for the purpose of exposing photographic film or a light sensitive electronic sensor to light to capture a permanent image of a scene.

In the subject of optics, an aperture is a whole or an opening through which light travels. In photography this can be measured in increments called f-stops.

The lens captures the light from the subject and brings it to a focus on the film or detector.

The size of the aperture and the brightness of the scene control the amount of light that enters the camera. During a period of time and the shutter controls the length of time that the light hits the recording surface. Equivalent exposure can be made with a larger aperture and a faster shutter speed or a corresponding smaller aperture and with the shutter speed slowed down.

In the process of making a pinhole camera, you must start off with either a thick cardboard box or a tin. Take one of these items and paint only the inside of it in black paint, when the paint has dried repeat this process twice more, so that the inside of the item is extremely dark. When you have finished cut out a hole in the area that you want the shutter to be. Stick a piece of foil bigger than the hole over the hole and make a tiny pinhole in the foil with a pin.

Cut out a square piece of cardboard out and stick over the pin hole with gaffer tape, this is called a shutter. Measure the distance in miller metres the pinhole to the opposite side of your tin or box.

When the pinhole camera is made stick photo graphic paper on the opposite side of the pinhole, this must be done in a room with no light. You then you must close your box or tin making sure no light gets inside. Then when you want to create a picture open the shutter in the area that you want to shoot for a calculated amount of time.
